ABOUT MELA

Carmela Daniel is a genre-blending artist whose sound fuses soulful jazz, R&B, funk,
and an eclectic urban vibe, creating a distinct musical identity. A Howard University
graduate with a degree in Jazz Studies, Carmela honed her craft through tireless
dedication, earning early recognition as a standout talent. Her journey includes
performing as a backup singer for Ndelible, serving as a vocal instructor at Duke
Ellington School of the Arts, and collaborating with industry heavyweights like Beth
Nielsen Chapman and Craig A. King.

Carmela’s versatility led her to work with multi-platinum rapper B.O.B. on The World is
Yours and share the stage with stars such as Melanie Fiona and Marcus Canty during
the Black College Tour. Her independent projects showcase her artistic
evolution—beginning with her 2022 release 404 and the 2023 single Make You Mine,
which highlighted her creative range.

In 2025, Carmela released Black Gold, her first full-length solo project, written,
produced, and performed entirely by her. Rooted in raw honesty and reflection, Black
Gold is a powerful statement on the ever-present oppression in America, offering a
soundtrack to the revolution—one that celebrates Black love as both resistance and
resilience.
